The FAA 107 certification, also known as the UAS pilot's certificate, is required to operate a civil drone for any non-recreational purpose in the National Airspace System (NAS).
No, To receive the FAA 107 Certification, you must pass the Part 107 exam, which is administered by an FAA-authorized center. The exam costs around $175 and is non-refundable. If you fail, you must wait two weeks before retaking it.
To maintain their certification, pilots must pass a free, open-book, online Recurrent exam every 24 months. The exam consists of 60 questions and requires a score of 100%. Passing the Recurrent exam also makes pilots eligible for night operations.
